Yes, absolutely! All of Memberstack's features are free to try (no credit card) on a test site for an unlimited amount of time. This means that you can take the time you need to set up Memberstack fully in test mode, and only pay when your website is ready to accept real members.
We count the total number of Live members. This includes all free and paying members. And excludes any test mode members.
You will receive an email when you are 90% of the way to your current member limit.
When you reach 100% on the Basic and Professional plans we will automatically upgrade your account to the next tier. If you are on the Business or Established plans we will automatically increase your member limit by 20,000 to avoid interruptions.
We define a transaction as whenever a member pays to sign up on your website through Memberstack. A transaction fee is a service fee based on a given percentage of each transaction.
If you only have free members, then the transaction fees do not apply to you. If you do require your members to pay during signup, then Memberstack charges a flat transaction fee based on your plan.
Please note that Memberstack's transaction fees do not include the fees that Stripe charges.
Memberstack uses Stripe to process payments securely on our users' websites and for payouts. Money you earn on your website is directly and securely transferred to your bank account via Stripe.

Most Memberstack features gate content on the front-end - meaning, a determined person with the right knowledge will be able to get around our content gating. This applies to pages/elements that you build in Webflow, and then gate using Memberstack.
However, there are various ways to keep information secure, like:
1. Hosted Content: Using our hosted content feature, you can keep text-based content (including links & HTML) stored inside of Memberstack, and it is not served to the user unless they have been authenticated.
2. Member JSON & Metadata: This member-specific information is added by the member and lives inside Memberstack. The only person who should be able to access it is the owner of the account, and the account admin.
Security is a tricky and nuanced topic - if you're unsure if Memberstack's security is a good fit for your use case, please send a message in our Slack channel to get advice and recommendations from the community, our team, and our experts.
