Boozer.la
Boozer.LA helps other bartenders and bar owners with common requests we receive from patrons at the bar plus job and event posting capabilities.
Who you are, what does your project do, and why did you build it?
I pay the bills with bartending, but I'm also a web developer. I built my project to help other bartenders and bar owners with common requests we receive from patrons at the bar: What other bars are around? Where do YOU go? Where can I play a game of pool or find some darts? Where is there dancing? Do you accept Apple or Google Pay? Where can I find karaoke? Etc...
So I built boozer.LA to help answer those questions. After providing a database of bars that was filterable by amenity, I added job posting and event posting capabilities via the Premium Job Board Template that Memberstack offers. I then made some design changes in order to fit the "look" and "feel" that I wanted, and I added some new Make.com scenarios, but they are all based on the templates that Memberstack provided.
What problems did Memberstack help you to solve?
Memberstack helped me solve user sign in and log in, content gating, and paywalls. If Memberstack did not exist, I would have had to rely on Webflow's user functionality, which has become defunct since they have apparently abandoned the development of that functionality.
What are your favourite things about Memberstack? Why are those your favourites?
Memberstack has allowed me to provide user sign in and log in capabilities that are very secure, and they've allowed me to gate certain content and user capabilities behind paywalls. Memberstack has been extremely user-friendly, the tutorials have been thorough, and they're always coming out with new features.
How I built this...
I first started by building a database of bars in Webflow and publishing it as a website. After sharing it with friends and co-workers, I quickly realized that it could be of more value by providing a job board. So I purchased Memberstack's template, and as I built that out and got all the functionality working, I decided to add that same functionality to Event posting. And basically everything has grown from there.
The big thing for me was having Memberstack provide me with the Make.com scenarios, which have completely changed how I understand the capabilities I am able to provide. So now I'm able to take the concepts from those initial scenarios and either recreate them or tweak them to accommodate any new functionality I wish to provide.
Memberstack has been an absolute life-changer for me.
I also use StoreRocket for my map functionality (I'm thinking about switching to No Code Map App, but I still need to do some testing), Jetboost for filter and search (because sometimes Finsweet is not enough to do the job), and Progressier to wrap my website so it can function as a PWA.
